MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Trébol Montessori is a bilingual education center in the heart of the Ballena Coast of Costa Rica. We are an international bilingual team, with great training and international experience, and most importantly we are a team with PASSION.
We offer an alternative educational experience that reaches the whole child. At Trébol, children are guided to develop into their own unique selves through a wide range of learning opportunities from practical life skills and academic skills to social-emotional skills.
We offer a learning experience where children interact with and learn from both a beautifully curated indoor environment with real materials and the outside natural environment.
This project is born from LOVE. The guides and staff at Trébol respect and trust children and believe them to be autonomous individuals capable of leading their education. Our curriculum offers children the structure and security needed so they can move freely and confidently as they lead their education.
“TREBOL” is a place where your child is a unique part of something special. We are about celebrating individuality and diversity as well as coming together as a community. In addition to serving the needs of the children, we offer a place of support and guidance for the families.
In the end, Trébol has been carefully curated so your child feels safe and secure to be his or her unique self and feels the comfort of home.
“My granddaughter goes here and I’m so impressed with the way the teachers encourage the children to critically think about the projects they are doing. Jenni and Monica are kind, compassionate and so professional in their jobs and certainly make this school a certain kind of special for the children attending it. I’m so glad my granddaughter has had the opportunity to be part of this little charm of a school in Costa Rica.”

THE MONTESSORI METHOD
The Italian physician and educator Dr. Maria Montessori was the creator of the Montessori method. The method consists of observing the child in an environment specially prepared to meet the needs of the child, and through this observation, the prepared adult is able to support and guide the child towards their preparation for life.
Montessori philosophy is characterized by providing children the respect they deserve, as well as the freedom and independence they need for their self-construction.
Children learn through exploration which helps them adapt to the culture and environment in which they live. For this, it is necessary to offer them the maximum reality, to offer concrete knowledge so that they understand and acquire the knowledge precisely. And from the concrete knowledge, they move little by little towards abstraction.
It is for this reason that we work with real material and everyday objects so that they do not pretend to make things, but rather make things using real, fragile, beautiful, clean, and everyday objects.
