“The child gives us a beautiful lesson — that in order to form and maintain our intelligence, we must use our hands.” – Maria Montessori

WHY MONTESSORI

“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” -Maria Montessori

The Montessori method is a way of education that reaches the whole child. It follows the natural developmental needs of the child, guiding children to learn the lessons needed to develop social-emotional skills, practical life skills, the 5 senses, language skills, and math skills. With the Montessori method your child will develop the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.

Multi-Age Rooms

Environments have children in groups of 3 years within the same development plane. Mixing ages is a perfect learning opportunity for both the younger and the older ones. The rhythm of each child is respected, the older ones help the little ones, and in turn they learn from the older ones by imitation. Through helping the littles ones, the older ones learn patience and compassion, and their knowledge is solidified.

Prepared Environment

The classrooms are prepared for children providing accessible material, promoting their autonomy and desire for learning. Order, beauty, and simplicity are essential in their environments.

Scientifically Developed Material

All the materials are meticulously developed with a specific purpose. This purpose provides the child with certain knowledge, isolating the difficulty, in such a way that they help order in the child’s mind. They are self-correcting to constantly feed the child’s absorbing mind and autonomy.

Qualified & Certified Guides

Our teachers, in addition to their own specializations, are Certified Montessori Guides. They approach the children to offer one-on-one lessons and then stand back to observe the children’s initiative. The child is guided by his inner teacher. Thus the guide is only a link between the child and the environment.

Evaluations Without Exams

In Montessori education we do not have a traditional evaluation system such as tests and activities that the teacher corrects. Our evaluation system is based on observation and record keeping. We observe how the students are advancing and acquiring the knowledge of the different subjects. If the child does not understand the concept they will be shown again. If the child understands the concept they will advance to the next concept. This allows the child to learn at their own pace.

PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT US…
“I would like to express my appreciation for our wonderful Montessori school Trebol, here in Uvita. We have seen so much improvement, growth and happiness in our child since she began at the school over a year ago. We are grateful to have such kind and talented teachers dedicating one on one time and facilitating a happy group environment as well. Monica and Jenni go above and beyond to make their school a joy for the children and it’s a privilege to have their school in our community.” – Charlotte Brown
“My granddaughter goes here and I’m so impressed with the way the teachers encourage the children to critically think about the projects they are doing. Jenni and Monica are kind, compassionate and so professional in their jobs and certainly make this school a certain kind of special for the children attending it. I’m so glad my granddaughter has had the opportunity to be part of this little charm of a school in Costa Rica.” – Debbie Smith
“Trebol is an excellent school with two very good teachers. My Daughter has been there for over a year and she loves it, she is always surprising us with new skills she learnt from school. One thing I especially like is that one teacher speaks to the children mainly in Spanish and the other in English. So not only can they teach children native to both languages, all the children are exposed to both languages while they are at school.” -Cameron Hameth
“Highly recommend these teachers. They are passionate, loving and so knowledgeable.” – Courtney Fletcher
